A Counselor’s Journal

1st day of school and yet another school. Back in Harlem, it is like is hit the reset button. Wearing the same tie and pants I wore for my very first day of work as a counselor. Would have rocked the same shirt to be completely nostalgic, but that crap shrunk.

Ready to go from a professional experience standpoint. Still shell-shocked from a many years ordeal where I found myself being constantly tested by people more concerned with breaking me down than building up my students. Schools have closed on me, been fired from jobs, been on unemployment, yeah I actually am nervous.

Is this it? Did I make it?

Then I remember those who desire to live Godly in Christ Jesus WILL suffer persecution (2 Tim 3:12]

In other words deciding to go hard for Christ means it’s gonna hit the fan in your direction. That people are coming for your neck when you didn’t do anything to deserve it. Calling you out your name and getting mad when they cannot break you.

So check yourself that you are indeed moving right. Don’t call something persecution when it isn’t. After that, lock it down and stay in the zone. More haters means you doing big things. My students whom I will meet today, are big things. Be encouraged, this is for me and hopefully someone else too. Newness of life. Let’s get it.
